ISLAMABAD: After the Economic Survey of Pakistan was made public on Thursday, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Friday took to social media to express his views about the government’s policies.
Govt missed all targets including GDP growth rate that stood at 4.71% against a conceived target 5.5% during the fiscal year #NakaamLeague

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday told reporters the government had failed to achieve the 5.5 per cent GDP growth rate during 2015-16 due to poor performance of the agriculture sector.
Due to a 28 per cent-decline in cotton crop, GDP growth suffered a decline of 0.5 per cent, Dar said. “If this was not the case, our GDP growth target would have been 5.21%.”
The Institute of Policy Reforms, an economic think-tank, on Thursday recommended effective policymaking in order to cover up the major economic targets. The report focused on three issues which, it said, need to be addressed on priority basis.
“These include negative growth in agriculture, sluggish industry, and a 15 per cent-drop in exports. They need deep, well thought out short and long-term reforms.”
